Torch of Justice Never Dies

The Torch of Justice Never Dies

/Mural and Social Art Project, 2025/

In September 2025, a tragic incident shook America — an innocent young woman was brutally murdered in the subway. The entire nation was deeply moved by this senseless act of violence, and from that shock, this project was born.
President Donald Trump publicly commented on the tragedy, and prominent figures — including Elon Musk — supported the idea of creating a series of murals across major U.S. cities to honor the victim and spark a nationwide reflection on justice and safety.

The mural reimagines Irina in the form of an iconic American symbol, the Statue of Liberty. This visual metaphor expresses how America offered her protection from war and the chance to dream of a brighter future. Her sacrifice will not be forgotten, and her story can inspire the creation of a safer, more just society.
In this interpretation, the Statue’s crown transforms into a protective necklace, appearing both as a fashion accessory and as a reminder of the dangers faced on modern city streets. It reflects the idea that no one should have to wear “defensive armor” in peaceful times.

Her expression recalls the serene calm of Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, evoking the Renaissance as a symbol of rebirth, progress, and hope. Thus, the mural becomes not only a tribute to Irina but also a symbol of renewal, an echo of the broader awakening taking place in American society, where long-overdue attention is finally being given to safety, justice, and human dignity.

The concept carries the potential to inspire a series of artworks and public campaigns across different cities and formats: including murals, billboards, posters, and digital banners.

Subconcept: “The Torch of Justice Never Dies”
This vision reimagines the Statue of Liberty as a modern guardian of justice. Her torch represents a flame that cannot be extinguished, a light of truth and dignity that endures even in the face of violence and tragedy.
The mural functions both as a memorial and a call to action, a tribute to lives unjustly taken, including Irina Zarutska, and a reminder that as long as people stand for truth, the flame of justice will continue to burn.

Campaign Logo
A campaign logo was designed to unify the project across cities, posters, and related activities. The typography subtly highlights letters within Irina’s surname: ZarUtSkA, forming a visual and emotional link with USA.
This conveys her deep love for the country that gave her refuge from war and the freedom to live without fear. Her family confirms this connection, and her final resting place will also be in America.
The logo’s design is concise yet powerful, ready to be used across digital and physical media.

The project is currently under approval and coordination for public presentation.
