Surround World

In this project, the author shows modern landscapes. They differ from classical landscapes to which we have already used, because of the new media and material — popular all over the world, Car-Fresheners (in the form of fur trees)! The artist reflects the ecological situation that is seen by him around.  A modern person more often faces the substitutes of the nature, fresh air and smell. A huge quantity of them is created: the smell of steppe grass, wood or sea air, and the forms are similar, but modern people live deceived!  Corporations and countries cut down hectares of woods, and give people fake.
In the project, the influence on the observer is not only visual and audio to which we are used, but also tactile feelings and new practice in art – smell are added.

I place 3 — 5 landscapes of different forests from parts of the world, that are close to this problem, and create a forest installation in the center of the hall from hanging air fresheners in the form of fir trees. The installation is a 3D continuation of the artwork.

Author’s personal story:
Back in 2007, I started this series. This is the personal experience of the artist, who as a child often visited relatives who lived in a picturesque corner of the Carpathians. Two decades later, the usual part of the forest changed. It was cut down for a large ski resort, and the nature around became dry and lifeless. No one else lived there, but sometimes I returned there. And on one of these trips, sitting in the car, I noticed an interesting coincidence effect, dry lifeless branches of the remaining rare trees and the fragrant aroma of a herringbone against this background. It was like a mockery. And so emotionally this project was born.
