I-765. New Life

I-765. New Life

«Over 300 million people worldwide live
outside their countries of birth, transforming
displacement into a defining global condition.”

Only real experience, pain and joy, loss and discovery, struggle and truth, can truly reach people’s hearts, viewers and collectors alike.

In this project, each painting becomes a document, a record of a day spent in a country that offered the artist refuge from war yet simultaneously became a witness to his struggle for survival: more than 15 months /458 days/ waiting for documents, without the right to work, without support, and without a safety net. Yet, these initial months, woven with profound uncertainty and stress, were also interspersed with new discoveries and encounters with wonderful people. Each canvas corresponds to a specific date after the artist’s arrival, a chronicle of building a new life on new land. The works vary in size and intensity; some reach two meters or more. Color becomes the pulse of the day: some paintings are calm and spacious, others saturated, compressed, or emotionally charged. The project also encompasses video works, installations, and graphic pieces.

News, Dec 2025:
Works from the project are currently on view from December 2–7, 2025, within the main Art Basel Miami exhibition at the Miami Beach Convention Center (Hall D), as well as in the Art Week parallel program at the Fridge Art Fair, located at 1052 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach.

At the same time, the project goes beyond the artist’s personal story. ‘I-765. New Life’ reflects a broader global condition shared by millions of people today. Forced migration, prolonged bureaucratic processes, the loss of familiar surroundings, and the need to rebuild life from scratch have become a common experience for those displaced by war, authoritarian regimes, economic instability, or humanitarian crises. In a time of global uncertainty, when people are actively moving across borders, Mirnov’s project captures waiting, uncertainty, and adaptation as a universal condition of contemporary life. The artist’s personal narrative functions as a lens through which broader global processes of migration and displacement are reflected, transforming private experience into a shared social and human condition.
